AUDIENCE IMPRESSIONS OF JANE EYRE

Here are some comments from audience members — people just like you — who saw Jane Eyre last weekend.

Jane Eyre was one of the most enthralling plays I've seen in a long time ... I actually felt like I was thrown back in time and was actually in the room while things were happening. I am amazed at how much imagery and meaning can be portrayed with so few actors on a relatively small set. I was so impressed by how versatile the actors were ... the darkness and yet hopefulness of the play was portrayed clearly and beautifully. I highly recommend this play. Jodi Chemes

At the end of the show, I found it impossible to join the standing ovation as I was stunned by the beauty of the performance. Starting with such excellent material as Jane Eyre does not guarantee a success, but the performers were superb as they portrayed both the intensity of personal struggles and the subtleties of inner conflicts. I was moved to tears, for does not the reuniting of Jane's several parts at the end represent the same resolution of inner selves we all seek? Thank you to all involved! Sumati Villaman

I was surprised by how much I liked Jane Eyre. I have never read it and don't have much interest in the genre. But Katherine Tanner was great (as usual) and the story moved in a way that kept me captivated. Stacy Shimkovitz

I am still thinking about "Jane Eyre," the play and the great impression it made on me. I would like to see the play again, and will if I can just figure out how to be in two places at the same time. Jenny Lind Olin
